ARRIVAL DAY

So . . . we were expectng that part of the adventure would actually be getting to Robin Hood’s Bay, our starting point, due to chaos with airlines, baggage and train strikes in the UK.  We were not to be disappointed.  Our flight from Greenville to Atlanta was delayed with an estimated time that would make it almost impossible for us to make our connection to Manchester . . . so we went with plan B, cancelled the flight to Atlanta, drove there ourselves and took the direct flight to Manchester.  We booked a driver from Manchester to Robin Hood’s Bay as most of the trains had shut down due to the heat the day before. But . . . we made it on time with all our bags intact!!!!

Walked around the village of Robin Hood’s Bay (see pic’s) to keep ourselves from sleeping, quaffed a few cask ales, ate the best fish & chips and mushy peas, then crashed into bed early…very early!

Now we are awaiting the arrival of the rest of our fellow hikers and hoping they have had good luck with their own travel chaos.
