DAY 6-RICHMOND TO REETH
A beautiful day in Richmond for a walk. Today’s hike `promised to be relatively easy with a few climbs and descents and the gorgeous backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales. We were joined today by Jonny and Leslie (and Barney their dog), friends of Pete and Shelagh from Bath. We were not disappointed. This is such a beautiful part of the country. We had a few stops along the way to visit a church in Marske and have lunch on a hilltop overlooking the Dales. We also met a few hikers walking the Coast to Coast in the opposite direction. We swapped tales of what’s to come for each of us and then moved on. Crossing one farmer’s field, we had to step up the pace to avoid being bombarded with shit from his fertilizer spreader. I’m pretty sure I caught a smile on his face as we were running!
Overall, a beautiful day crossing the Dales and landed at Ivy Cottage, our B&B in Reeth for the night around 3:00. Stats for today, around 12.5 miles, 30,000 steps and elevation of 1400 feet.
